    Man Arrested at Carriage Way

    On May 14, 2020 at 6:44 AM Chesterfield Twp. Police Officers were dispatched for an unknown male wandering near homes in the Carriage Way mobile home community. The officers located the male and made contact with him as he stood between trailers. They discovered he was disoriented and had cuts and scrapes on his head from an earlier injury. An ambulance was requested and when the officers patted the male down they discovered he was in possession of a concealed semi-automatic handgun. The male fought with officers and tried to flee. He was taken into custody but during the fight a Chesterfield Police Officer suffered a significant injury to his knee.  The officer was transported by ambulance to an area hospital where he was treated for the injury and released later that day.

    Joseph Devoy, 42 years of age, from Warren Mi was arraigned today at 42-2 district court. Devoy has been charged with the Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Carrying Concealed Firearm, Felony Possession Of Analogues, and Felony Assault And Resist Police Officer Causing Injury. He is currently lodged at the Macomb County Jail.

    Armed Robbery at Boost Mobile

    On April 7, 2020, the Boost Mobile store on 23 Mile Rd. In Chesterfield Township was robbed by two black male suspects with a handgun.  The two black males forced the lone clerk of the business into a bathroom and robbed her of her money, cellphone, and other personal items.  The two suspects then stole money from the business cash register and numerous cell phones.  The suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle.

    Chesterfield Township Patrol Officers and Detectives responded to the robbery immediately and were quickly able to identify the suspects’ getaway vehicle.  With this information, Chesterfield Township Detectives were able to identify a suspect who is a 22 year old, black male from Detroit.  The suspect’s identity was provided to the United States Marshals Service who were able to locate this suspect in the City of Detroit, where he was taken into custody without incident and returned to the Chesterfield Police department.  Chesterfield Township Detectives interviewed this suspect and obtained a confession from this suspect regarding this robbery.

    A second black male suspect involved in this robbery is still at large and further investigative efforts are underway to locate this person.  Anyone with additional information related to this matter is asked to contact D/ James Gates at 586-949-2450.

    Both suspects are believed to be involved in the armed robberies of three other Boost Mobile locations in St. Clair County, Macomb County, and Wayne County.

    New Jersey Man Arrested For Criminal Sexual Conduct

    The Chesterfield Twp Police department arrested 28 year old Jarred Robinson of Somerset New Jersey on March 26, 2020. He was arraigned yesterday at 42-2 Dist Court on the felony charge of Criminal Sexual Conduct 3rd Degree with a victim between the age of 13 and 15. He is currently lodged at the Macomb County Jail with a $50,000 bond.

    Mr. Robinson had an internet relationship with a 14 year old Macomb Twp girl via social media for approximately a month. On March 25th, 2020 Robinson flew from Philadelphia PA to Detroit Metro Airport. He used public transportation to travel to Chesterfield Twp. He met the 14 year old girl at the Chesterfield Twp Walmart located on Market Place Blvd. Robinson arranged transportation for the teen, from her home to Walmart via a ride share app.

    The two walked to the nearby Fairfield Inn where Robinson told the teen to wait at the side door and he went to the front desk to rent a room. Robinson let the teen into the hotel and the two went to his room. Robinson had sexual relations with the 14 year old girl and just over an hour later used the same ride share app to transport the girl home.

    When she arrived home, her mother was making a missing juvenile report with a Macomb County Sheriff Deputy. The mother was relieved to have her daughter home, but when she discovered what had happened to her daughter – she immediately telephoned the Chesterfield Twp Police Dept.

    Once the Police Department was aware of what had occurred, the Detective Bureau and Patrol Officers immediately went to the hotel and found Robinson still in the hotel room. He was taken into custody with little resistance.

    The Chesterfield Twp Police Detective Bureau has identified a suspect from the Feb 28, 2020 bank robbery of the First State Bank located at 53950 Gratiot Ave. The detectives identified 45 year old Keith Edward Wagner of St Clair Shores as a suspect. An arrest warrant for 2 counts of bank robbery was authorized today and Wagner was arraigned at the 42-2 District Court on the charges. He is currently being held in the Macomb County Jail on a $250,000 cash bond.

    Vehicle Pursuit Ends In Lake St. Clair

    Sunday Nov 3, 2019 at 11:32pm Chesterfield Twp Police Dept received a 911 call from the parents of a 16 year old Chesterfield Twp resident. The parents reported that their son had stolen their 2018 GMC Terrain and was making threats that he was going to kill himself. Chesterfield Twp officers quickly located the male driving on 23 Mile Rd in the area of Nicolette Dr. A high speed pursuit started westbound on 23 Mile and continued to the area of North Ave and 27 Mile in Lenox Twp, where the pursuit was terminated due to the suicidal male driving recklessly and at high speeds placing innocent motorists in danger. The troubled male returned to Chesterfield Twp minutes later and was again pursued by Chesterfield Twp Officers eastbound on 21 Mile from I-94. The 16 year old fled from officers and drove off the end of 21 Mile at high speed in the area of Jefferson Ave and Farwell Rd into Lake St. Clair. A Chesterfield Twp Police Officer immediately jumped into the lake attempting to save the young driver. The officer was eventually assisted by back up officers and Chesterfield Twp Fire Fighters wearing emergency water rescue gear. The GMC slowly sank while the 16 year old resisted being saved. He was taken into custody and transported to an area hospital for care. The GMC was removed from the lake by Ballors Towing. The case is currently being investigated by the Chesterfield Twp Police Detective Bureau.

    UPDATE: Bank Robber Arrested

    Megal Lamont Barnett of Detroit MI has been arrested and is currently being held at the Macomb County Jail. He is suspected in the two October bank robberies in Chesterfield Twp, along with a bank robbery in Roseville. The Chesterfield Twp Police Detective Bureau was able to develop Barnett as the suspect after much investigation, including assistance by the public in his identification.  The investigation has been turned over to the FBI and Barnett will be charged federally with the bank robberies.  Barnett was also wanted on outstanding felony charges in other Macomb County jurisdictions.

    UPDATE:

    Chesterfield Township Police arrested the TCF Bank robbery suspect and an accomplice, today at 11:00AM in the area of 23 Mile Rd and Seaden Rd.

    On a hunch, Chesterfield Detectives were surveilling the area of the TCF bank, with information the suspect was in the area.

    The suspects were located walking along 23 Mile Road.  Chesterfield Police Detectives made contact with the suspects, and a short foot chase ensued.

    One suspect was quickly arrested and the other was located and arrested moments later hiding in an adjacent business. 2 firearms were recovered.

    Both suspects are black males in their early twenties and both from Detroit MI.

    Both suspects are currently being held at Chesterfield Township Police Dept and will be formally arraigned next week.

    On 08-22-19 at approx. 10:00am the unknown suspect shown below robbed the TCF Bank in the area of 23 Mile Rd. and DW Seaton Rd. The suspect fled the bank on foot. A note was produced and no weapon was observed only implied. The investigation is continuing if anyone can identify the suspect please contact Det. Dawidowicz at 586-949-4265

    On 07-28-19 at 7:00PM, Chesterfield Police Officers arrested 17 year old, Steven Brenton of Port Huron. He was arrested minutes after stealing a bicycle from a garage attached to an occupied home in the 23 Mile Rd and Baker Rd area.

    A Chesterfield Police K9 unit, with other Chesterfield Officers and New Baltimore Officers, tracked Brenton to the area of Huntley Ave and Rivard St in New Baltimore, where he was taken into custody without incident.

    Brenton was arraigned on 07-29-19 at 42-2 District Court on the charge of Felony Home Invasion. He is currently lodged at the Macomb County Jail with a $5,000 bond.

    Woman Stabs Boyfriend In The Neck

    Chesterfield Twp Police received a report of a violent injury on Jan 02, 2019 at 7:31 PM from McClaren Hospital. The 31 year old victim was recovering from surgery after being stabbed in the neck by his girlfriend, 26 year old Crystal Wright of Chesterfield. The stabbing occurred during an argument between the couple in Wright’s Chesterfield apartment. The assault took place in front of the victim’s young daughter along with Wright’s two young children.

    Chesterfield Officers were able to discover Wright’s whereabouts by speaking to neighbors who heard the assault and Wright’s parents who live nearby. Officers responded to a Chesterfield restaurant where Wright is employed and took her into custody without incident.

    This case was reviewed by the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office. Crystal Wright was arraigned today at 42-2 District Court on the charge of Assault With Intent To Commit Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder a 10 year Felony. She is currently lodged at the Macomb County Jail with a $100,000 bond.

    SUSPECT: Jason Lemar Jennings, a 38 year old Clinton Township man.

    After review today by the Macomb County Prosecutors Office, Jason Lemar Jennings has been charged with: “Assault With Intent To Murder (a felony punishable by up to life)” and “Felony Firearm (a 2 year felony)”.

    Mr. Jennings was arraigned today at the 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore where his bond has been set at $100,000.00 (cash surety). His next court date is January 2nd, 2019 at 9:00am at the 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore. He is currently being held in the Macomb County Jail.

    On 12-23-18 at 0116 hrs Chesterfield Twp Police Officers responded to Rosie O’Grady’s on 23 Mile Rd after reported gunshots in the parking lot. Responding officers discovered a 20 year old Shelby Twp resident with a gunshot injury to his face. He was treated by responding medical personnel and released from the scene. Fortunately he suffered non-life threatening injuries.

    There was a pushing and shoving altercation in the pub that eventually made its way outside and continued into the parking lot. The victim made his way to his vehicle and began to drive out of the parking lot towards 23 Mile Rd. Suddenly the rear window of his vehicle was shattered by a bullet and his face was struck by bullet or glass fragments.

    Chesterfield Township investigators developed the suspect and recovered the handgun through witness interviews, credit card receipts and video surveillance.

    A 38 year old Clinton Twp man has been arrested in conjunction with the assault and gunfire at Rosie O’ Grady’s on 12-23-18.  A handgun has been recovered and is believed to have been used in the assault.
