On Tuesday morning (1-19-16) at approximately 3:00 a.m. Chesterfield Township Officers responded to the 47400 block of Gallus where a resident had called 911 to report suspicious persons walking in the area. Officers located the suspects (Woods, Supal, and Gamez) a short distance away, walking down Mercury Lane. When Officers confronted the men they could not explain what they were doing outside on foot in the frigid weather and could not explain where they were. One of the men told the Officers that the trio was “Coming from a party” and pointed “over there”, but could not give a street or a homeowners name. Officers observed suspect Supal to be carrying a green NEVIN SUPALcanvass bag and upon further inspection observed the bag to contain several rounds of live 12 Ga. Shotgun ammunition. Supal had no logical explanation as to why he was carrying shot gun shells or where they came from. The men were separated and detained and ultimately took responsibility for breaking into several parked vehicles in the area, along with vehicles that were parked in the 23 Mile and D.W. Seaton area and the 24 Mile and Sass area. They were placed under arrest and Officers recovered several stolen items the suspects had stashed in their jackets, including a Garmin GPS, medications, cash and coins, and headphones. During interviews at the station, Investigators learned that the men were all acquainted from the past and that on this night they had decided to pick random neighborhoods and check for unlocked cars that contained valuables.

After review by the Macomb County Prosecutors the men were charged as follows:LATREL GAMEZ

Demarko Woods: B&E vehicle-property less than $200.00 (93 day misdemeanor), and Conspiracy To B&E a Vehicle (1 year misdemeanor)

The investigation is ongoing as investigators believe that additional suspects were involved as “get-away drivers” and possibly fled the area in a white Dodge Intrepid while Officers were occupied making the arrests. The majority of the property seized during the arrest has been tracked back to the rightful owners/victims.

Tire Thief Arrested After Leading Officers On Lengthy Pursuit

    DERRICK-BROWN

SUSPECT: Derrick Lamar BROWN, a 33 year old male from Detroit

LOCATION: 36400 block of Brennan Rd., New Baltimore MI

On Tuesday morning (11-24-15), at approximately 2:50 am, a female resident on Brennan Street in New Baltimore called the Chesterfield Dispatch Center to report that while she was up feeding her two month old child, she looked outside and observed an unknown black male removing the tires and wheels from her family’s 2016 Ford Explorer that was parked in the driveway. The resident added that it appeared the suspect was loading the tires into a large dark colored pick-up. New Baltimore PD units were dispatched to the area and approached the residence on foot. As they neared the home they observed the suspect inside the cab of a 2001 Ford F-250 pick-up. They illuminated the suspect’s vehicle, observing the bed of the truck to be filled with the victims tires and wheels, and ordered him to exit. The suspect refused to comply and began fleeing down the residential streets and across lawns with New Baltimore PD units in pursuit. The suspect ultimately entered west bound I-94 from New Haven Rd., where Chesterfield PD units were positioned to assist. As the suspect continued fleeing west bound on I-94 (approaching 23 Mile Road with multiple police units in tow), a Chesterfield Officer deployed “stop-sticks” and successfully deflated tires on the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect now struggled to control the vehicle and exited at 21 Mile Road. He then entered the Briartowne Subdivision and was temporarily cornered on a dead end, but ultimately drove across the front lawns, crashed into the front end of a Chesterfield patrol car, and continued fleeing back onto 21 Mile Road east bound. The suspect, with a now severely disabled vehicle, crashed into a brick wall (along a residential drive way) as he crossed over Jefferson on east bound 21 Mile Road. The suspect then bailed out of his vehicle and fled on foot in between the homes with multiple Officers giving chase.

A Chesterfield Officer took the suspect into custody after the brief foot pursuit, and without further incident. After attempts by the suspect to supply the Officers with fictitious names, they positively identified him as Derrick Lamar Brown, a 33 year old Parolee from Detroit MI. Back at the scene of his crash they determined the 2001 Ford F-250 that he had been driving was reported stolen from Sterling Heights in October (2015). Derrick Brown refused to speak with investigators while being held at the Chesterfield Police Department.

After review today by the Macomb County Prosecutors Office, Mr. Brown was charged with: “Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer-Second Degree” (10 Year Felony), “Receiving and Concealing a Stolen Motor Vehicle” (5 Year Felony), “Larceny from a Motor Vehicle” (5 Year Felony), and “Operating with Suspended License” (93 Day Misdemeanor).

He was arraigned this afternoon in the 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore via video from the Chesterfield Township Police Department. His bond was set at $20,000.00 cash and he is currently housed at the Macomb County Jail with a parole detainer accompanying his cash bond.

Man Arrested With A Firearm During Industrial Disturbance

    JOSHUA-GREEN

SUSPECT: Joshua James-Earl Green, a 23 year old male from Detroit MI.

LOCATION: “MPW Industrial” 50321 E. Russell Schmidt, Chesterfield MI. 48051

On Friday morning (11-20-15) at approximately 7:40 a.m. an employee of “MPW Industrial” called 911 stating that employees inside the shop were involved in a physical altercation and that one of the males involved had just run out of the building stating that he was going to get a gun. A Chesterfield Township Officer on patrol was in the immediate area as dispatchers were broadcasting the altercation and the Officer immediately observed a black male, with no shirt on, running through the parking lot of “MPW Industrial”. The Officer drove in the man’s direction and began shouting verbal commands for him to stop. The male refused to stop and the Officer exited his patrol car and gave chase on foot as the male fled across E. Russell Schmidt. Once on the other side of E. Russell Schmidt, the male suspect fled into an open door at “Sur-Foam Industries” and slammed the door shut on the pursuing Officer. The Officer managed to get the door back open and observed the male suspect now just standing inside of the business (next to a garbage can) facing the doorway. The Officer secured and detained the male suspect, finding no weapons on him, and identified him as Joshua Green. Mr. Green could not explain why he had been running from the Officer. After several Chesterfield “back-up” patrol units arrived, Mr. Green was escorted from “Sur-Foam Industries”. The original pursuing Officer then located a Beretta .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun in the garbage can that Mr. Green was standing next to inside of “Sur-Foam Industries”. Mr. Green was placed under arrest without further incident.

Witnesses then described the original altercation to Officers stating that as it got out of hand between Mr. Green and (2) other employee’s, Mr. Green yelled that he was going to get a gun, and ran out to his vehicle in the parking lot, shirtless. Witnesses stated they then observed Mr. Green grab an unknown object from under the driver’s seat of his vehicle and conceal it in his front right pants pocket. It was at this moment that the Chesterfield Patrol Unit appeared and Mr. Green began fleeing across E. Russell Schmidt (with the Officer giving chase).

During a subsequent interview with investigators at the Chesterfield Police Department, Mr. Green ultimately admitted that he had indeed placed the handgun in the garbage can while fleeing from the Officer. Mr. Green stated that he had just found the gun on the street a couple days prior and placed it in his vehicle.

After review by the Macomb County Prosecutors Office, Mr. Green was charged with: “Carry Concealed Weapon” (5 Year Felony). Mr. Green was arraigned this afternoon at the 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore. He is currently being held at the Macomb County Jail on a $4,000.00 10% bond.
